About Us

Mission San Luis Rey Parish is a diverse and multicultural Catholic parish in the San Luis Rey Valley of Oceanside, California. For over 200 years, our mission has been to welcome all who come and invite them to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As a Franciscan Community of Stewards, our hope is that you will find our parish a place of welcome, peace and friendship. Please explore our website to find out more about our Parish History and Pastoral Staff, opportunities for Faith Formation, Stewardship and Volunteer Opportunities, many Ministries and Clubs and Service Organizations and Communities.
Our parishioners act as "Friendly Visitors", bringing Christ's love to the sick, disabled and lonely and reach out through Social Concerns, an outreach program to the needy.
Our calling to live the Gospel of Christ is implemented through Eucharistic Celebration, education, prayer, pastoral, social and charitable work. Daily Mass is celebrated in the Parish Chapel at 7:30am. Saturday Masses are in the Serra Center at 5pm (English) and 7:00pm (Spanish). Sunday Masses are in the Serra Center at 8am, 10am, 5pm (English), and 12noon (Spanish). The Sacrament of Reconciliation is on Saturday from 10am to 11am in Fr. Peter and Fr. Alvin's office in the Parish Center. We also support community activities such as housing for Casa de Amparo (a shelter for abused children) and the Tri-City In-Line Hockey League practices on our parish grounds.
