The children's program for the RCIA prepares children of catechetical age (7 and above) for the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil. All children are to be included in the program who by their own wishes and their parents' desire and approval express a desire to become Catholic. Those who should be in the Children's RCIA include those children who: have never been baptized, were previously baptized in another Christian Tradition (Protestant or Orthodox) and wish to become part of the Latin Rite Catholic tradition, were baptized Catholic but did not receive Reconciliation or Eucharist in Grade 2.
At Mission San Luis Rey Parish, we offer RCIA for these children, who are welcomed into the Church with classes designed for their own age level. We include children who are Catholic by Baptism, but who, for whatever reason, have not had any religious education, children, children who have been baptized in another faith and wish to become Catholics, and children who have never been baptised. All of these children are welcomed into our faith community.
