"For Catholics, the Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as the Sacrament of Penance, or Penance and Reconciliation) has three elements: conversion, confession and celebration. In it we find God's unconditional forgiveness, and as a result we are called to forgive others." -- from American Catholic.com-
At the baptism of their child, parents accept the responsibility of training their child in the practice of the faith. In keeping with this key understanding, the sacramental preparation programs, primarily First Reconciliation & First Eucharist, are designed with the pivotal teaching role being the parent. The texts used in these processes are designed for the teaching to be done at home. When the child is thus prepared, they are interviewed by a program coordinator for their readiness to celebrate the sacrament for the first time.

Meetings are held to help prepare parents for this home catechesis. These meetings are so integral to the process of sacramental preparation that they are required.
