Today's first reading begins with an opportunity -- "Return to me with your whole heart." Joel 2:12

We are invited to spend the next 40 days taking a step back, turning away from the chaos and turmoil of our lives to focus on our relationship with Jesus. May today be the day to answer God's invitation with a prayer. "Lord, help me to return to you, now."

Join us on our Facebook page for a daily lenten reflection.

Fasting (the eating of one main meal and two smaller meals with no in between snacks) applies to those between ages 21-59 who are in good health and would not be hampered in their work by fasting. The only days that are legislated by church law are Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. The other days of Lent and/or all Fridays are encouraged but not obligated by law.

ONE MISSION AT THE MISSION….

E-mail Print PDF

A Letter from Fr. Chuck and Fr. David
Dear Parish Family,  Peace and all good!

Over the past two years, we have been working to create and promote greater unity here at Mission San Luis Rey. Our vision is that there be ONE MISSION AT THE MISSION: a welcoming and evangelizing presence of Jesus Christ in the North County.

In order to realize our goal, we are considering the possibilities of uniting the Mission and Parish into a single organization. As a result of the recent Chapter meeting of the Franciscan Friars, the following changes will be put into place:

Father Chuck Talley, ofm, Pastor, is being transferred. He will be leaving the Parish, effective May 15, to become pastor at Old Mission Santa Barbara and to assume the position of Secretary of Formation for the Province of St. Barbara.

Father David Gaa, ofm, will remain Executive Director of Old Mission San Luis Rey and will assume additional responsibilities as Pastor of Mission San Luis Rey Parish after an interim period.

Feast of the Immaculate Conception
of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Dear Members of our Mission and Parish Family,

Peace and all good! Over the past 2-3 years-- ever since our arrival here at Old Mission San Luis Rey and Mission San Luis Rey Parish-- we have been working to find ways in which  both entities could grow together to serve as a unified, evangelizing presence of our Catholic Christian faith here in North  San Diego County.
