Stewardship: A Way of Life Mission San Luis Rey's philosophy on Stewardship is that Stewardship is a way of life. It is a way of thanking God for all His blessings by returning a portion of the time, talent and treasure that has been allotted to us.
Our primary process of Stewardship of Treasure is through the Sunday Collection. Each week, we strive to meet our liturgical and sacramental needs as well as the needs of all our ministries and outreach programs. Many weeks, we fall short of our goal. That's why, in order to build the Kingdom of God, we need your help. Being a large parish, we have learned that the only way we can plan is by asking you to make a pledge each year. The Pledge Card helps us to plan our budget and can help you plan yours. By committing to share a specific amount each week, you help us to manage the parish in a consistent and orderly fashion. When we commit to a life of Christian Stewardship, we commit to norms different than those of society in general. At San Luis Rey Parish, we recommend
returning 10% of our treasure to the Lord through the works of our parish, our diocese, and the greater community.
We suggest allotting half of this tithe to the parish and half to the works of the diocese and other good causes.
The table below shows how these guidelines apply to different levels of income.
