Posada is Spanish for "lodging", or "accommodation." It is a yearly tradition for many Hispanic Catholics that symbolizes the trials which Mary and Joseph endured before finding a place to stay where Jesus could be born.
Typically “Las Posadas” are celebrated the 9 days before Christmas and contain a reenactment of the strife of the Holy Family followed by a celebration, rejoicing at the fact the family has found lodging. Join us as the Hispanic Community provides this experience here at Mission San Luis Rey Parish. Celebrations will be in Spanish, every night through the 23rd of December In front of the Old Mission at 6:30 p.m.
