Welcome!
On behalf of the Franciscan Friars, our parish staff and volunteer ministers, welcome!
Franciscan Friars have staffed the Mission and its parish almost continuously ever since its founding in 1798. Our Franciscan tradition emphasizes the joy of the Risen Lord, the inherent dignity of every person, and respect for all of God’s creation.
We are a parish family in the tradition of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi. Today, our parish family is large (about 6,000 families) and diverse, with members from all walks of life, every age group, and a wonderful array of cultural backgrounds. We believe that this diversity is a great gift and grace to us.
In addition to our weekend liturgies, we offer a full religious education program for children, youth, and adults. Our parish school, Old Mission Montessori School, is one of just two Catholic elementary programs on the West Coast which offers a quality Catholic education in the highly acclaimed Montessori method…. Finally, we have more than 60 different groups in the parish involved in everything from Scripture study and faith sharing to community service projects.
Welcome to our one, big family!
