Ash Wednesday Mini Retreat—A Gift of the Hearts
Feb. 22, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Come join us for a gathering of seekers for God’s heart in this season of Lent. Out time together will include Mass and distribution of blessed Ashes. It will also be an opportunity for all to make the sacrament of reconciliation. This will be a time of prayer, meditation, communal sharing and renewal. Cost $25 pp includes a simple lunch. Women’s Retreat Weekend, Feb 24-26, 2012

A retreat led by Fr. Stan Fortuna from the Bronx, NY. With Daily Mass, Adoration, and Stations of the Cross.  The retreat cost is $225, which includes shared room accommodations, and five meals from Friday evening to Sunday morning. Old Mission San Luis Rey in collaboration with the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship and the Lilly Endowment, Inc. present Finding the Well of Joy (Come, all you who are thirsty. Come to the waters. Isaiah 55:1)  with OCP recording artist Trevor Thomson.   Blessed Abbot Marmion once said that, “Joy is the echo of God in us.” In this workshop, we will discover the rich pool of joy that resides in us and learn how to tap into it even in difficult and trying times.

Events at the Old Mission -- December 4th, 2011

 

Serenity Retreat—January 20-22, 2012
By Fr. Tom Weston SJ
Here is an opportunity to spend a weekend  with women and men in recovery from alcoholism and addiction. Our retreat is open to
folks in AA, NA and Al-Anon. The retreat will focus on the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous with prayer and mediation. The retreat begins with dinner at 6:00 p.m. and ends with lunch on Sunday. Private single room is $240, shared room is $190, commuter $130.

 


Music at the Mission - Friday, December 9th
Concert 7pm-8:30pm followed by dessert reception. Concert
performed in the Historic Church by Legacy Choir, conducted
by James Drollinger. All seats reserved. Proceeds benefit the
retrofit of the Old Mission Church.

 


Christmas at the Mission - Wednesday, December 14th
From 6pm-9pm. Area restaurants and the chefs of the Old
Mission will offer a taste of their specialties. Caroling in the
Old Mission Church 5pm-6pm.

Bob Hurd will lead an evening prayer service at the Mission  on Dec 2 at 7:30 p.m., followed by a retreat on Prayer, Spirituality and the Word, an exploration of Centering Prayer, Lectio Divina and Liturgy of the Hours on Sat., Dec. 3 from
9:00 am—4:00 pm and a concert at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $15.00. There is no charge for the retreat, but reservations are required.

Back by popular demand is our "Behind the Scenes" tour by docent Mary Roper aimed at providing young students with a better understanding of what life was like during the Mission Era. This is a great way for parents and children to share in the learning experience, and for children to get their ideas for 4th grade history projects. The tour is open to people of all ages who want to learn more about the Mission's place in California history. All 4th graders will receive an educational packet ($5 value).
